LOVANGO RESORT: RESTAURANT

The restaurant at Lovango Resort & Beach Club is split down the middle for two separate-but-cohesive identities. The outdoor restaurant off the dock welcomes guests into an environment of casual and comfortable hospitality, achieved through an open layout of woven raffia and caned dining chairs, teak tables, and green outdoor upholstery to mimic the layers of lush sea-grape, snake grass, and palms that surround the area. The entire resort design is conceived to blur the lines of the natural and the man-made, outside and inside, while still maintaining expectations of comfort and luxury on the island.

Uninterrupted views of the Caribbean Sea and warm tropical winds wrap around our guests as they dine. Our involvement with the restaurant went beyond just the structural — the menu design, employee uniforms, and overall concept passed through our hands and eyes to ensure that the holistic vision remained true. As with any project, Lovango is a true testament to the power of collaboration and what can be achieved through talented and hard-working minds.

The covered restaurant on the other side of the lobby offers a more refined, high-end dining experience. Custom-designed rotating louver walls let in light and air or protect from heat, rain, and harsh winds depending on conditions. The tiled fireplace serves as a centerpiece for the space as well as a “hearth” to congregate and sit beside. And the true focal point of the space comes sweeping down from the ceiling in the form of long ropes that have been installed to create a division of space and an organic art-object that reflects the importance of rope in the history of the nautical region and the construction of the US Virgin Islands.
